Farmers from a village near Adamaru, once saw Sri Vadirajateertha and submitted a prayer. The prayer was to relieve them of the water scarcity in their village. Sri Vadirajateertha visited their village and witnessed their hardships. He placed down his Kamandala (spouted vessel carried by ascetics) in a field and prayed the Lord. A water spring then started from underneath the Kamandala. This was sufficient to provide water to all the nearby areas. As this waterbody was created by laying down the Kamandala, it came to be called as “Kamandaluteertha”. It is interesting to note that this waterbody has not dried up even to this day. Although, over the course of time, the name “Kamandaluteertha” distorted to “Kemmandelu”, the waterbody is still visible.
This place is about 25 km from Udupi
