Narakasura is the recipient of a plethora of boons. Had he been righteous, he would have probably met with a right end. But it was not so. He had designed his capital city Pragjyotishyapura in such a manner that it was not easily accessible. It was built at one of the elevated peaks of the Himalayas. He also erected several forts around the city. Nobody could gain access through these forts. Thus believed Narakasura and several others like him. However, what transpired was something else.
Shri Krishna arrived with Satyabhama to annihilate Narakasura. Shri Krishna destroyed all the forts of Narakasura in a minute. Further, Narakasura was slain too. Satyabhamadevi participated in this battle as an aide of Shri Krishna. In recognition of this assistance, the Lord Himself wiped away her sweat, lovingly embraced her and removed a garland from around His neck and adorned her neck with it.
Narakasura who imagined himself to be mighty, believed everything was his own and loathed Shri Krishna, was embraced by death. Satyabhama who acknowledged that all she had was Krishna’s and dedicated herself to His embarkation was embraced by Krishna.
