Dhruva came to Uttanapaada with the desire of sitting in his father’s lap. But, Dhruva’s step-mother snubbed and drove him away. Her name was Suruchi. She had shown her stepmotherly attitude towards Dhruva. But, being a father, Uttanapaada’s action was unjustifiable. He could have advised Suruchi. However, he did not do that. Though, there was scope for morals (Su-neeti), he did not tend to it as he had become a slave for desires(Su-ruchi). So, he remained silent and later suffered because of this. Such is our state as well. When our desires are beyond the bounds of morality, we destroy ourselves. Our desires (thoughts) should be under our control, and not the other way around. This is the path to welfare.
