Dasaru describes the unfathomable power of the Lord in this verse. While describing His pervasiveness and greatness, Dasaru also praises the purity of river Ganga. The cursory meaning of this verse is as follows:
aṅgake heṅgaḷāliṅganānta gaḍa: The supreme Lord embraces Lakshmi Devi even at the time of the dissolution of the Universe.
maṅgaḷapāṅga viśvaṅgaḷa maṅgaḷa: The Lord, who is the very personification of auspiciousness, bestows auspiciousness on the world.
siṅgaraduṅguṭa saṅgada jagaṅgaḷaghaṅgaḷa hiṅgipaḷu: River Ganga, born from the hallux (big toe) of the auspicious Lord, removes the sins of the three worlds. By describing the ability of river Ganga in cleansing our sins, he conveys the glory of the Lord who is the grantor of such miraculous capabilities. Viewed from another perspective, it is not at all surprising that river Ganga, born from such miraculous potency of the Lord, dispels the sins of the three worlds.
aṅgake heṅgaḷa āliṅgana – It means the supreme Lord is one with Lakshmi Devi. She is the presiding deity of the unmanifested ether. This unmanifested ether remains even during the dissolution of the Universe. The Lord pervades Himself until the last point of this unmanifested space. This all-pervading supreme Lord is the most auspicious one.
Even the minutest part of the all-pervading Lord is filled with infinite auspicious qualities. This is the reason he exudes auspiciousness onto the entire Universe. This was the narration of the greatness of the Lord. Now he moves on to narrate the greatness of the river Ganga who was born by the mere touch of the auspicious Lord. The Lord came in the form of Vamana and expanded to take the form of Trivikrama and as He grew, His left toe pierced a hole in the outer shell of the cosmos and the waters emitted therein entered Earth. This water is also known as “Vishnupadi”, “Devanadi” and “Amaratarangini”. If Ganga, who was born from the touch of the hallux of the great Lord, is capable of purifying the three worlds, then how much more powerful would the names of the Lord be?
The Lord who possesses such potency is the truly wealthy one!
