Durga Trishtup Mantra

Elaborating upon the meaning of the durgā triṣṭup mantra

This hymn which is in the triṣṭup meter which was visualized by sage kaśyapa, at first glance appears to be directed towards agni who is popularly known as jātavēdas. However, by addressing it as durgā triṣṭup, śrī madhvācārya shows us that more than agni, it is durgādēvi who is being extolled in this hymn.

The propounding of Indriyas in the Akshasookta

It is commonly perceived that the two verses of the aksha sookta from Rigveda (10-34-13,14) are focused on prohibiting gambling. It is only natural to come this conclusion as one can find the words aksha and kitava, the commonly used terminology for the dice and gamblers respectively.
