Attaining higher realms is not easy. It requires a lot of effort. No matter what difficulties one faces while trying to reach the goal, there must be a genuine smile on his face. In order to symbolize this, Bali’s chariot had a flag with a lion on it (simhadhvaja). The meaning of the word ‘simha’ (lion) unfolds in multiple ways. Hinasti iti simhaḥ. Lion rips the animals in front of it and hence it is referred to as Simha.
After this, Acharya Madhwa visited the temple of Vishnumangala, near Kasaragodu. There, he engaged in delivering discourses on the Bhagavata. He had his disciple, Shri Hrishikeshatirtha, recite the hymns. Shri Hrishikeshatirtha used to melodiously recite the hymns through his sweet voice.

Appannacharya in the Guru Stotra sings – “O Giver of all! The destroyer of mountains of sins with a mere glance; ocean of compassion; protect me always”.
In this one shloka, Sri Trivikrama Panditacharya highlights the greatness of Mukhyaprana, the innate meaning of devotion and its characteristics and how this needs to be channeled to the lotus feet of Govinda. The one shloka is a sublime summary of Hari Sarvottammatva and the supreme role of Mukhyaprana in our lives.
Because of all these reasons, one must be aware of the indweller Lord Narayana, while reciting this stotra.

This is a famous shlOka that eulogizes sri rAghavEndra tIrtha. A shlOka that is taught first even to a two year old toddler. An easy, simple and meaningful shlOka. It is a protective mantra as well. There have been innumerable people who have obtained the siddhi of this shlOka through purascharaNa and other methods.
The term ‘mUla Ashi’ can also be interpreted as one desirous of knowing the root cause for everything i.e., one who is in search of Para-brahma. Reading sat agAmas like Vedas, Moola-Ramayana, MahabhArata, PancharAtra and sAtvika purAnas, one would have to come to the inevitable conclusion that it is Lord VishNu who is the Supreme power responsible the creation, sustenance, management and destruction of this Universe. Such knowledge who would make one a yogivara.
